The hens

Free to roam well beyond the yard, turkeys and various breeds of hens are raised here, including the renowned Padovana and the Cornuta di Caltanissetta, an ancient rustic breed with a thousand-year history.

Its unusual ox-horn-shaped crest inspired a religious legend claiming that this bird was born from the union of a feather from Archangel Michael’s wings and the devil’s broken horn.
